Yes, you read that correctly. It was CONSTRUCTED. Tyler doesn't usually just plunk down a building in town. He likes to work his way through the instructions and add to it a little at a time... day by day.... just like a real construction project. The crane was built just for this building (out of spare parts) because we didn't have one yet. It has since been dismantled (which is really just a nice way of saying DESTROYED).
This method is actually quite a bit of fun for the rest of us, because you never know what kind of OSHA violation you'll find when wandering past town. I don't think workers are allowed to ride on the windows, for instance.
Moving Day! The building didn't have it's Grand Opening until later that week.
I like how the construction workers are helping Mia's minifig (in the orange pants) move her shop's furniture in-- and everyone is stampeding into the building! No time to waste!
Another view of the big opening banner. Tyler got the idea from pictures he saw of apartment buildings in China, which frequently cover their facades with banners advertising available units.
Here you can see the side windows-- the apartments have good views from all sides.
This worker is getting a little overwhelmed by the crowd rushing the door! WHOA!!
Here's a video tour of the building:
