INFERNO - Pizza Shop fire threatens city block

FIRE! Here's a quick overview of a detailed scene that Tyler and I made a few years ago. Click on through to the post and I'll give you a suggestion for a fun way to... well, start a "fire"!

Police Truck and Prototyping

Still catching up some old posts and wanted to show you how we "prototype" new vehicles and show you a police truck we developed.

New Police Car & Community Day

This post is a bit of a throwback.  The pictures were taken probably about 2005 or 2006-- but that's the great thing about Lego: they don't really age.  It was fairly early in the Renaissance of Lego, as Tyler was just beginning his journey and I was rediscovering my love of building.
There was to be a new police car in town but, using our imaginations, we couldn't just "plop" it in town... it had to be shipping in, of course!

#TBT Old Town Parade

In the interests and long running tradition of "Throw-Back Thursday"--  which dates all the way back to 2011-- today's post features our town as it appeared back in its FIRST version.

Tyler and I were watching news coverage of a disaster somewhere (I forget where but it's possible these are from around the time of Hurricane Katrina) and we decided to act out a relief effort.   Of course we only had ONE town, so the mission became one of airlifting supplies and rescue workers from the airport.
Upon their return from their operation, the town threw a "Welcome Home" parade for their heroes, followed by a community celebration.

Can You Hear Me Now?

Communications are a vital part of a vital city service: the police department.   Recently there was quite a crowd gathered up on the roof of HQ trying to get some new equipment installed.
Normally a job like this would only need one guy-- but not in Bricksburgh!  What are all these guys doing up there?!

Keeping the Lights On For Ya

Every now and then the traffic light bulbs burn out.  We've already seen the unsafe way to work on them, but today's post will give you an idea how to do it properly...
...despite the less than ideal pictures.

Bad Guy Charges Police Barricades

Most of the citizens of Bricksburgh are good people but occasionally one them will end up on the run from the cops. This man must have committed some crime. (Maybe he's a stud dealer or a bricknapper.) Either way, he got himself into a police chase, but the police have a a good and effective method of stopping him.

Failure to Yield

As you may have read earlier, we had some car crash drama in our household recently.  Someone rear-ended one of our cars at a stop sign.  No one was hurt and our car has since been repaired, but it seemed like as good a time as any to show you some pictures of a recent chain reaction crash.   Tyler took all these pictures-- they were a complete surprise to me when I emptied the camera card!  He tells a great little story though...  as I think you'll agree:

Uh-oh...  something has happened here for sure!

Air Superiority

Every big city needs an aerial unit in their police department.  Bricksburgh isn't THAT big, but given Lego's enthusiasm for creating police sets our citizen:cop ratio is pretty high!  How do the police keep Bricksburgh citizens safe?  With their "eye in the sky" police helicopter, of course.  Last year we showed you some of the design in our post called:  "Rule the Air" and in the video below.
This year... we're showing you how to BUILD it.   Click on through!

Make a Simple 4x4... Easily!

We're still trying to get our feet under us-- it's just a super busy time of year around here.  Three new videos have been shot or at least partially recorded and we'll be posting those as they are finished.  The first one went up today and features a 4x4 that pretty much anyone can make using spare parts.
There are no special pieces required (though we are showing it with some special axles) and it using very common pieces.
Read on to find out what is coming next.

Wipe That Smile Off Your Face

There was recently a study that said Lego faces are getting angrier.  We've noticed similar changes in the faces of Bricksburgh's citizens.  What could be causing our normally smiling people to experience such anger, fear and disdain?  Well, it turns out, the same thing that makes real people more bitter...  a crime wave.

Harbor Offices Collapse

Here's a look back at our 2nd Harbor (we are now building version 4 on the new tables).
It had some very interesting features and a VERY disastrous end!

Daylight Comes

Good morning!  We're just back from vacation and gearing up to resume our posting "schedule" this week.  Tyler will be taking over more of the blog entries, especially the "historical" posts that will feature pictures from years past.  In addition to the "historical" posts, we'll be keeping you updated with new photography and videos on our YouTube Channel.  It's morning again, in Bricksburgh!
This picture was taken using our new Ikea light-- which we bought specially for Bricksburgh.  Looks like the janitor is cleaning up the office at the beginning of the work day.  In case you don't recognize it, that's the upper level of the new police headquarters.  Looks pretty realistic, right?

Running a Redlight

It's been a while since we had a little gratuitous crashing around here.  So, let's have some fun, get out some rescue equipment, and have ourselves a good old fashioned traffic accident.
These pictures were shot at the old house, on the old tables-- but they'll be new to you!   We never intended these to be used as a stop-motion video or anything, they just tell the story of an accident and rescue from various angles.  Ready to go?  Buckle up and click on!

New Police Station Complex

A new Bricksburgh is coming soon and coming with it will be a new police station complex.  As much as we love our classic-vintage styled police station, it was simply not big enough for a growing police force.  Read on to see what we've built and how we tried to stay true to the classic Lego style while more than doubling the facility.

Coming Attractions

Happy New Year!   We trust everyone had a good holiday filled with Lego gifts-- we did!  The picture below is from a few years ago when Tyler decorated the town for Christmas.  You can see the tree in the background got some bling to go along with the police station.  This year a LOT of cool Lego sets were under our tree.  Read on for some details, including links the sets!

Hotel Inferno!

"Breaking news on Bricksburgh-TV, we have reports of a fire at the City Hotel..."
That's how you might expect the report to start as the helicopter camera catches a ground crew already interviewing first responders.
Remember how last time I wrote that we'd burn the hotel down?  Well, here comes a mega-gallery of hotel destruction, fire trucks and dramatic rescues!

Police Vans for Fans

What?  No burning hotel??  I know I promised that would be next-- but it'll be a couple more days to polish up that post.  In the meantime, we've had a lot of questions off our YouTube Videos regarding the police vans.  We love to answer our fans so, as requested, we hurried up a video tutorial on our Police Vans, with some more information added on here.
